BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – The prominent commander of the Tiger Forces, Major General Suheil Al-Hassan, will lead the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) upcoming offensive to liberate the Islamic State (ISIS) stronghold of Albukamal, a military source told Al-Masdar News this morning.

According to the source, General Hassan was informed this week that his Tiger Forces will lead the offensive from the T-2 Pumping Station to the border-city of Albukamal; however, this will not commence until Deir Ezzor City is liberated.

The source added that the Russian High Command want General Hassan to lead the operation and this was agreed upon by the Syrian Arab Army’s High Command.

If the operation proves successful, the Syrian Arab Army will be able to cutoff the Islamic State’s most important supply route from the Iraqi city of Al-Qa’im.

why wait until dier zor city liberated . city is already surrounded. so isil cant come out other saa unit can liberate easily. Tiger force should start operation ASAP to librete albukamal before this us terriost SDF/ take that border area. Russian strategy in this particular is not understandable. bcuz SAa lost all oil field to SDF. and Russian and saa knows SDF/US are cooperating with ISIL to reach border..SAA should do it now

The ISIS pocket in Deir Ezzor binds a large number of SAA forces that may be missed when moving to Abu Kamal. Therefore, SAA must first dispose this pocket.

“however, this will not commence until Deir Ezzor City is liberated. ”

Unfortunately in the meantime the US Army can make a deal with ISIS and Abukamal similar to the Omar oil field will be under YPG/USA boots. It seems that the US wants to control all highways towards Iraq. This is for Israel so they not give up easy.

The fate of Albukamal is already decided. It will be under SDF control to cut off Iran and Shiite militia from entering Syria and Lebanon. Why should Iran control Syria when 90% of Syria is not even Shiite? Why Alawite Shiite who are 10% of population feel entitled to control 100% of Syria. Doesn’t make sense even if they hide behind fake nationalism.
