El Primer Ministro de Turquía dice que su país preferiría que el Ejército sirio tomara el control de la ciudad de Manbij en lugar de las fuerzas kurdas.

El primer ministro Binali Yıldırım dijo que si el gobierno sirio tomara el control de Manbij, no sería un acontecimiento negativo ya que “no quieren una presencia del YPG allí”.

Las Unidades de Protección Popular, también conocidas como YPG, son afiliadas al Partido de los Trabajadores del Kurdistán (PKK) que son consideradas por Turquía una organización de caracter terrorista y por lo tanto ilegal.

El grupo terrorista Ahrar al-Sham, que forma parte del Escudo Éufrates, dirigido por los turcos, dijo que iría a Manbij, y esto también ha sido afirmado por el presidente turco Erdogan, cuyo ejército está aliado con el grupo militante.
