PressTV journalist Marzieh Hashemi was welcomed home by cheering crowds at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport on Wednesday, after spending 10 days in detention at a Washington DC federal prison.
Adorned with flowers and surrounded by friends and colleagues Hashemi said that what “happened is a sign showing how important the Islamic Republic is and how much they [US] are afraid of the 40-year revolution.”
“We are all happy about standing with unity against the oppression that the US did against this superwoman,” said former chairman of Iran’s Parliament, Gholamali Haddad Adel.
The 59-year-old journalist was arrested at St Louis International Airport on January 13 after filming a Black Lives Matter documentary. She was held on a material witness warrant.
