BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:15 P.M.) – U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis stated on Thursday that President Donald Trump had not made a decision regarding a potential attack on Syria.
“President Trump has not yet made a decision on a Syria attack,” Mattis stated, as quoted by CNN reporter Barbara Starr.
This statement by Mattis comes just a day after Trump tweeted that the U.S. was going to fire several ‘smart’ missiles into Syria.

Mattis also stated the U.S. does not enough evidence yet to make an accurate assessment for whether or not chlorine or sarin gas was used in the Syrian town of Douma last weekend.
