DAMASCUS, SYRIA (2:40 P.M.) – A newly-formed group in the northern Syrian city of Manbij issued its first statement announcing ‘war of resistance’ against all foreign troops just as the city has been taken over by joint Turkish-American forces.
“The will of people is stronger than your deals, the city of Manbij is not for sale of bargain. We, the people of Manbij made up of Arab, Kurdish and Turkmen tribes, will not allow the presence of any foreign invader; be it Turkish, American or French”, the statement read.
The statement, read by a masked man wearing a military uniform, asserted that the city belongs to Syria and Syrian government, rejecting attempts for separating or alienating the city.
Manbij is now controlled by a joint Turkish-American forces after the Kurdish militiamen fighting under what was known as Manbij Military Council agreed to leave the city as per a Turkish-US roadmap.
