DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:20 P.M.) – Under the cover of darkness, militants loyal to the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) launched a daring hit-and-run operation against the Turkish Armed Forces in the embattled Semdinli District of Hakkari Province on November 2.
Following the sudden attack, non-stop firefights broke out for several minutes after which Kurdish belligerents torched the encampment and withdrew from the area to fight another day, but not before inflicting heavy casualties upon the Turkish garrison.
According to the PKK’s media wing, a total of 19 Turkish Army soldiers were shot dead while 2 pro-government village guards suffered the same fate in this operation alone. The shootout took place at the Çeman outpost.
Footage of the raid, recorded by a Go-Pro camera attached to the helmet of a female PKK fighter, can be found below:
In sharp contrast to the aforementioned PKK claims, Ankara said it had only sustained 8 casualties during clashes with Kurdish insurgents across the whole of Hakkari Governorate on Thursday and insisted that the Turkish Armed Forces had eliminated 46 members of the outlawed Kurdish separatist militia in the same space of time.
