BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:15 A.M.) – An Al-Qaeda affiliate militia made up of Uyghur colonists from west China has attacked forces of the Syrian Arab Army in the province of Idlib with the biggest guns available to its arsenal.
Amid a staggering but nonetheless ongoing offensive against the Syrian Army and allied paramilitaries in the southeastern countryside of Idlib province by militant groups, the Turkistan Islamic Party Al-Qaeda affiliate faction has brought several truck-mobile artillery pieces to bear against government defenses.
The self-propelled guns used by the Turkistani jihadist group have a caliber of 130-mm or greater, putting them into the category of ‘heavy.’
These heavy-hitting guns which used by the Turkistan Islamic Party and other militant groups are generally held in reserve and only deployed for the purposes supporting major rebel operations.
Whilst the three-day militant assault has produced virtually no gains on the ground, rebel shelling of Syrian Army positions has nonetheless been rather intense, as described by reports.
