DAMASCUS, SYRIA (11:00 P.M.) – On Wednesday, the Islamic State mobilized all available forces for a huge assault that saw jihadist belligerents plunge through the government frontline along the provincial border between Homs and Deir Ezzor.

The offensive, spearheaded by a convoy of armored technicals and the remnants of the Islamic State’s elite Inghimasi militants, saw a desert fortification completely overwhelmed and most of the SAA garrison killed on the spot.

With some government soldiers executed at point-blank range, the Islamic State also seized a number of BM-21 Grad rocket launchers which may be used against the SAA at a later point in time. Images of the rare offensive can be found below:

According to Amaq Agency, the attack took place northeast of Al-Tanf, not far from the border with Iraq. The exact SAA death toll remains unbeknownst to Al-Masdar News.

Meanwhile, the SAA is delivering a devastating blow to the Islamic State in central Syria, capturing around a dozen villages on a daily basis this month alone, thereby paving the way for the eventual liberation of Deir Ezzor city.

1st Al Tanf… very likely US info, rebels suddenly became ISIS, the revolving door… 2nd if properly fortified you could hold the position long enough? Why the fck we keep seeing rats climbing to the top of the brastwork to fire the troopers on the inside , why the fck are not the outside area of those walls filled with bounding type mines? a mine detonating at the ouside base of the wall at 1 metre air burst will obliterate anything without risk to SAA troops inside!! ISIS tactic in open dessert is always the same: start shooting from a… Read more »

Yes, where are they. All bases should have one chopper guarding constantly.
And what were the lookouts doing? They didn’t see the Jihadists coming over vast distances of treeless, flat desert?
A massive failure of basic defensive tactics. SAA lift your game as the Zionists are losing so are at their most dangerous now.

No, but there is Palmira, with an airport, less than 1 hour for a chopper. An it is possible to create temporary airport for choppers, very quick to set up.
And you can divert 2 or 3 jets, that is less than 10 minutes.

Because Uncle Sam taught them, thus, they don’t carpet-bomb civilian filled cities with napalm (100k dead in Tokyo) or together with the Brits, with phosphorous (according to Red Cross, 305k dead in Dresden) or actually use nukes against non-military targets…

This is a Zionist operation spearheded from Iraq with the complicity of Iraqi traitors. It came after Putin refused to accept Nethanyahu’s ultimatum to force Iran and Hezbolah out of Syria. This attack should be avanged and the Syrian Arab Army should not only take back all the lost ground but triple that. Massive Air strikes should already have been launched. Every such attack should be met with a devastating response much greater than the original to show the Israeli terror squads that they have no chance. I hope the Syrian Arab Army and Russia retaliate promptly in like fashion.
