BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:15 A.M.) – After uncovering a network of tunnels beneath Al-Qabun on Monday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) also captured a secret base preveiously used by Hayyat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

The jihadist headquarters stored a significant quantity of deadly homemade mortar weapons and a makeshift field hospital containing loads of medicine.

The SAA’s seasoned 4th Mechanized Divison have now fully ringed the Al-Qabun and Barzeh suburbs. Nevertheless, local insurgents refuse to surrender despite several negotiations which would facility their departure to Idlib province.

Effectively, Syrian government troops have intensified their operations around the eastern Damacus districts while fierce urban warfare is expected to ensue in the weeks to come.

Once this task is completed, Brigadier General Ali Mahmoud and Colonel Ghayath Galla will lead their troops in another offensive striking into the rebel heartland in the East Ghouta.
