BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – Syrian pro-government forces have deployed even more reinforcements to Al-Qarayatayn in eastern Homs Governorate order to bolster their upcoming offensive against ISIS terrorists positioned inside the town.
According to sources, the latest reinforcements package comprises troops and equipment from the National Defence Force’s Qalamoun Division – a seasoned paramilitary formation – which began their re-deployment to eastern Homs today.
Pictures released by the Qalamoun Division on social media shows them to be sending many troops as well as technicals and cannon-armed gun-trucks.
Islamic State militants seized the town of Al-Qarayatayn deep behind Syrian Army lines on October 1 after conducting a well-executed shock attack with sleeper forces from nearby villages.
Although the Syrian Army quickly contained the situation by preventing any further spread of ISIS militants in the region, it still has yet to properly storm Al-Qarayatayn and liquidate the Islamic State presence there within.
