DAMASCUS, SYRIA (12:15 A.M.) – The Syrian government forces repelled a massive attack by jihadi groups on Massasnah village in northern Hama countryside, killing and wounding scores.
The assault, the third of its kind since the village fell to the government troops last week, was spearheaded by the Syrian al-Qaeda Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in collaboration with other FSA-affiliated factions.
The Syrian Army, backed by paramilitary forces and Russian airstrikes, has snatched large swathes of territories from the jihadi groups as part of a wide-scale military operation to expel the opposition forces from the northern countryside of Hama.
The insurgents – which launched their attack from Lataminah and Markabeh – are desperately attempt to recover Massasnah as it will be the launch pad for the government forces to further advance northward.
