DAMASCUS, SYRIA (9:25 P.M.) – Facing overwhelming odds, Islamist commanders in the east Damascus suburbs have brought in reinforcements and supplies from the East Ghouta while deploying big numbers of mortar and artillery guns to repel the two-pronged assault by the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard.

In defence of the Ayn Tarma neighborhood, the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) Failaq Al-Rahman destroyed a BMP-1 and bulldozer. A series of images depicting these ongoing clashes were posted by the FSA group online on Friday:

The day before, Failaq Al-Rahman also destroyed a SAA tank in the neighboring Jobar district although they have failed to stop Republican Guard pincers that threaten to cutoff Ayn Tarma from Jobar.

With FSA reinforcements trying to beef up the east Damascus defensive line, Failaq Al-Rahman relies on the abilities of its commander-in-chief Captain Shamir in the battle for Jobar and Ayn Tarma. Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (Syrian Al-Qaeda franchise) is also present in the region, fighting alongside the FSA.

Although the seasoned 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard wrestled control of the nearby Al-Qaboun and Barzeh neighborhoods last month, their battlefield allies in the 4th Mechanized Division have since left for a separate military campaign in Daraa city.

Consequently, the warring parties are now more evenly matched on the east Damascus arena which has been under opposition control since 2013.

May we all pray that GOD intervene in the greatest possible way and cause all rebels to be soundly thrashed – defeated as quickly as possible here and every other place where they are taking and maiming innocent lives in Syria. God deeply loves Syria and His heart is pained by every injury and death to an innocent Syria, but He moves in response to prayer..so may we all pray daily and diligently.
