DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:50 P.M.) – A string of images of emerged on Thursday depicting ISIS launching a head-on assault on the Kurdish-held village of Sour (Suwayyan), located in southeastern countryside Hasakah just a few kilometers off the border with Iraq.
In what appeared to be a direct response to the Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) ongoing Al-Jazirah Storm offensive, a volunteer ISIS suicide bomber struck the main building adjacent to the Sour crossroad and prompted the SDF to hastily withdraw from the area:
Moments later, ISIS pickup trucks swarmed the village and captured a handful of SDF fighters alive. Upon capture, they were beheaded and shot at point-blank range, related and highly graphic images by Amaq Agency revealed.
Despite facing overwhelming odds against the powerful US-led coalition, a second ISIS counterattack also took place on the same day in eastern Deir Ezzor after which the town of Al-Suwan was attacked from two flanks.
