DAMASCUS, SYRIA (0:50 P.M.) – After running critically low on manpower, the Islamic State has begun deploying more and more commercial drones fitted with artillery shells to target encampments controlled by the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).
In a brand new series of photos released by Amaq Agency, these armed drones were shown to hit four different PMU positions south of Anbaj town in southeastern Syria. This area is located a few kilometers from the border with Iraq.
With most of ISIS’ fighters tied up in the battle for Deir Ezzor, their commanders have reduced the number of raids in recent weeks and turned to armed drone attacks and increased their usage of missile and artillery shelling.
Given the current rate of government advances on both sides of the border, the Islamic State caliphate is expected to come to an end within 12 months.
