BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The 800th Airborne Regiment of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) Republican Guard has captured the Najib fuel station near the town of al-Sukhnah in eastern Homs.
The advance was achieved yesterday and is part of the SAA’s ongoing operation to secure key points, villages, hilltops and sites around the recently liberated town of al-Sukhnah. Here army forces aim to create a lofty buffer zone around the strategic settlement which can be used to ward off any future ISIS attacks on the settlement.
The Najib fuel station is located around ten kilometers to the southeast al-Sukhnah at the end point of an offshoot road which departs from the main Homs to Deir Ezzor highway (M20).
The Republican Guard troops who participated in the advance yesterday uploaded photo evidence of their territorial gain.
