DAMASCUS, SYRIA (0:40 A.M.) – On Friday, Iba’a – the media wing of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) – published a series of images showing Al-Qaeda fighters undergoing training by Chechen commanders in Idlib, considered jihadist heartland.

Using experience gathered in the 1990s against the Russian Army, the Chechen warlords trained the mostly Syrian HTS insurgents in assault operations.

According to reports, the camp is based somewhere in the northern Idlib countryside.

The elite Al-Qaeda fighters are known as Inghimasi units and usually fight until the last breath, striking fear in their opponents whom consider such infiltration missions off-limits.

Yesterday, HTS published an infographic video stating they had killed 850 Syrian soldiers since emerging on the battlefield 100 days ago. Several other rather unsubstantiated claims were made.
