DAMASCUS, SYRIA (4:30 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) will not interfere anytime soon as ISIS and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) continue to slaughter one another in the Yarmouk Camp and Hajar Al-Aswad pocket in the southern sector of the capital.
The media wing of HTS, called “Iba’a”, published three images on Monday claiming to have captured a tunnel from ISIS insurgents in the predominately Palestinian Yarmouk Camp.
ISIS reportedly intended to use the tunnel to strike behind enemy lines and eliminate a tiny HTS enclave in the northeast section of the embattled refugee camp.
Clashes continue between the warring parties while the SAA has intensified its efforts to capture another pocket, at the Al-Qaboun and Barzeh districts, in east Damascus.
SAA troops have long ringed the Yarmouk pocket, waiting only for HTS or ISIS to defeat the other before unleashed a large government offensive on the residential area.
