Ground sources in the Kurdish-dominated town of Kobane in Syria’s north have claimed that the Turkish military have penetrated 20 meters over the border from Turkey.
Sources have claimed that the purpose of this incursion is so that Turkey can build a wall along the Syria-Turkey border.
In response to this incursion, hundreds of Kurd’s in the YPG-controlled town have gone out in protest against this move by the Turkish military.
It has been reported that trucks carrying concrete blocks to build a wall entered the outskirts of the city.
Turkey at the beginning of the Euphrates Shield Operation stated that its field will only be contained to the west side of the Euphrates river, however, this incursion demonstrates Turkey working outside of those bounds.
It can be questioned whether Turkey will be annexing the land behind the wall to be built from Syria.
