Al-Qaeda-affiliated al-Shabab have taken responsibility for an attack at the Somali Youth League Hotel (SYL) in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.
It has been reported that at least ten people have been killed with scores of others injured.
The SYL is a popular meeting place for Somali officials, with local media reporting that a security conference was scheduled to occur this morning.
Although there were initially reports of gunfire, an eyewitness told the BBC that this had not occurred.
Journalists, officials and MP’s are including in the casualty list caused by the car bomb.
