Almost 24 hours after launching their offensive in northern Dara’a, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in cooperation with the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Hezbollah (Party of God) – targeted the strategic villages of ‘Umm Batna and Mosahra, along with a number of hills near Tal Al-Haraa in the Al-Quneitra Governorate.
The SAA’s 9th Division – backed by their allies – attacked Tal Mura’y, killing 22 militants from the Al-Qaeda linked “Al-Nusra Front” (Jabhat Al-Nusra), while destroying 4 armored vehicles with mounted doshkas on Sunday morning.
After fierce firefights engulfed Tal Mura’y until late Sunday afternoon, the militants from the Al-Nusra Front were forced to retreat west; this led to the 9th Division’s complete control over this area. The attack resulted in the loss of 6 soldiers from the 9th Division and 5 NDF fighters – no information was released on the Hezbollah losses.
According to a military source, the 9th Division was also able to capture the hills identified as “Tal Fatima”, “Tal Ra’eed”, and “Tal Maqran” – no further information was provided.
