Over the last three weeks in rural Damascus, the Palestine Liberation Army (PLA) and their allies have carried out several military operations inside the dilapidated Yarmouk Camp, Tadamon, and Al-Qadam Districts, targeting the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) defensive positions in the southern sector of what is considered the “Palestinian triangle” of the Syrian capital.

On Friday evening in the Yarmouk Camp District, the Palestine Liberation Army – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF) of Yarmouk Camp, Fatah Al-Intifada, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) – continued their powerful assault along Palestine Street, capturing several building blocks from the ISIS and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) fighters entrenched at Yarmouk-Palestine Camp axis.

Currently, the Palestine Liberation Army and their allies are pressing south towards the Yarmouk Athletic Stadium and the Yarmouk Girls School; these sites were transformed into a training camp (Yarmouk Stadium) and headquarters (Yarmouk Girls School) for new ISIS recruits from southern Damascus and northern Dara’a.

The Yarmouk Camp’s southern sector was captured by ISIS and Jabhat Al-Nusra during their March offensive from the northern axis of Hajar Al-Aswad; this resulted in the complete withdrawal of every rebel group that was operating inside of this district in rural Damascus.
