Clashes erupted between protesters and Israeli forces near a checkpoint in Ramallah, West Bank, Tuesday.
Palestinians set tyres on fire, and waved Palestinian flags, voicing their anger over the visit of US Vice President Mike Pence to the region. They also hurled stones at Israeli security forces who responded with tear gas. Unverified reports say rubber-coated metal bullets were also used.
Protests have been carried out across the region in response to Pence’s visit and the decision by US President Donald Trump to proclaim Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
