BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – Protesters burnt pictures of President Donald Trump in front of Ramallah’s America House on Tuesday, at a rally against the US government’s decision end all aid to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

The protest, which was organised by the Fatah Movement and National Forces, saw rally-goers holding banners aloft and chanting, outraged at cuts to the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency.

“The US is trying to do the role of the occupation by the liquidation of the UNRWA and by stopping the funding of the agency as the first step of ending the right of return,” said Esam Abu Baker, a representative of the National Forces in Ramallah.

“American institutions that support the occupation have to immediately leave Palestinian lands,” he added.

The US State Department announced in a statement on August 31 that it considered UNRWA to be “irredeemably flawed” and would be withdrawing all funding. The US contributed $355 million (€305 million) to UNWRA in 2016 and released $60 million (€43 million) of their allocated funding earlier this year, before revealing cuts.

IMHO, burning Trump’s picture is the best way to neither receive $355M nor $60M in 2019. It will be ZERO. Yanks spent billions at helping these ungrateful creeps who even celebrated 9-11, so did the EU and for what? No results since Abu Mazen (Abbas) refused to sign even the very generous Ehud Olmert land treaty which proposed him EVERYTHING he was claiming at the UN with landswap compensating the settlements. Look, these guys are still with refugee status despite living in the proto-Palestinian state since Abu Mazen refuses them the Palestinian “nationality” and even having passports! They’re still parked… Read more »
