BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:45 A.M.) – A key pro-Syrian Arab Army faction made up of Syrian-Palestinian volunteers is rallying its forces to support ongoing government operations against jihadist militants in northwest Syria.
According to reports by pro-government sources, the Liwa al-Quds paramilitary faction, which fights on the side of the Syrian Army, is redeploying men and heavy weapons from positions around the city of Aleppo to northeast Hama province.
The Palestinian brigade will partake in ongoing operations by the Syrian Arab Army against Al-Qaeda-linked militants of the Ha’yat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) terrorist group which maintains a powerful presence in the country’s northwest.
Liwa al-Quds has proven itself time and time again as a reliable ally of the Syrian Army since its formation in 2013.
In various operations in and around Aleppo (including the eventual liberation of the city itself), the Palestinian paramilitary played a crucial role in support army operations to destroy terrorist armed groups.
