Palestine’s permanent observer to the UN, Riyad H. Mansour, called on the Security Council to “shoulder its responsibility and take opposition” in the wake of the deadly violence during the ‘March of Return’ protests along the Israel-Palestine border on Friday.

Mansour made the comments in New York City, following an emergency UN Security Council meeting concerning the violence, which saw Israeli fire claim the lives of at least 15 Palestinians and leave over 1,000 wounded.

The Palestinian envoy also mentioned a proposal “for an investigation about what happened with a view of bringing criminals – in our view Israeli occupying forces – to face justice.”

No decision was made or joint statement reached by the UN Security Council at the meeting.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we want you to act as if they matter to you, too. Be respectful of the topics and the people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said.

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

No , the US will not shoulder ”its responibilities” , has been covering up for Israel for over 50 years , any hope invested in the US is illusionary. The only ”hope” for Palestinians to reclaim their lands is to allow time for the resurgence of Syria to occur, show perseverance for another few years , up to the moment the US becomes too weak and bankrupt, with a worthless currency, withdrawing from the ME , as it has already begun. Under a new constellation of powers in the ME , the Palestinian issue should be again addressed legally in… Read more »

They should first reclaim their passports the whole Arab League cancelled after Arafat asked for this when he officially created the PLO in 1964, so they were all stripped from their true nationality to become the fully forged “Palestinian people”. Actually, they’re reclaiming Jewish Palestine AKA Israel’s land while this never ever in history was Arab land. Arab Palestine is Jordan! Why don’t they reclaim Jordan? Well, Arafat even tried to overthrow the country in 1971 nd to kill the PM and king. King Hussein ordered artillery and Air-Force to bomb Fakestinian refugee camps until Arafat and his cronies terrorists… Read more »

It’s high time for UN to cut UNRWA and PA/PLO terrorist funding!
80% of Fakestinians would even prefer to become Israeli citizens than citiens of the failed Fakestinian state.
Time to push PLO and Hamas into the sea.
