BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:10 P.M.) – Around 500 Syrians who sought refuge in Shebaa in Lebanon were returning home to Beit Jinn in the countryside southwest of Damascus by bus, as they testified at a crossing point in Jdeidat Yabous on Wednesday.
The refugees spent nearly the entire seven-year-long civil war in neighbouring Lebanon, but the Syrian government has facilitated their safe return after offering them free transport home.
“We escaped the terror and destruction which was perpetrated by the terrorists. We passed over the mountain through a village called Shebaa, where we stayed for a period,” explained one of the refugees.
“But things returned to normal in our country, thank God, as our government facilitated a bus journey home and helped alleviate our issues.”
