BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:40 P.M.) – The death toll for the Turkish-backed Syrian militants killed in Libya has exceeded 150, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Wednesday.
Citing activist reports, the SOHR said that the total number of Syrian militants killed is 151, with the majority of these casualties coming from the Al-Mu’tasim Division, Sultan Murad Brigade, Al-Shmal Brigade, Al-Hazmah Regiment, and Suleiman Shah Regiment.
According to SOHR, as many as eight Turkish-backed militants have been killed in the past few days; this includes a Al-Hazmah Regiment commander who was believed to have been killed by a rival rebel faction.
The majority of the casualties came as a result of the intense battles taking place in the southern part of Tripoli city.
The first Syrian militants to arrive in Libya came in late December; however, since then, several more have arrived to help the Turkish-backed Government of National Accord (GNA).
