The Syrian Arab Army’s 43rd and 63rd brigades of the 4th Mechanized Division and popular committees are storming the gates of Quraytayn in southeastern Homs after launching a surprise assault at the western perimeter of this ancient Assyrian town this morning.
According to a military source from the 11th Tank Division, the Syrian Armed Forces managed to break-through the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham’s (ISIS) stiff defenses this morning, paving the way for them to reach Quraytayn’s western gates at 11 A.M. (Damascus Time).
The source further added that the Syrian Armed Forces received a major boost from the Russian helicopters that are participating in this battle for the first time.
The town of Quraytayn was captured by ISIS in August of 2015 after they launched a massive offensive in the vast Syrian Desert; furthermore, this large-scale assault resulted in the Syrian Arab Army’s long withdrawal from this desolate front.
