BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 P.M.) – The mysterious assassinations plaguing the rebel forces in the Idlib Governorate continued this weekend after one of the highest ranking commanders in the Free Syrian Army (FSA) was killed in the town of Khan Sheikhoun.

According to pro-opposition activists via social media, the deputy commander of Jaysh Al-Izza, Khaled Marati (aka “Abu Lahab”) was killed last night in Khan Sheikhoun when unknown assailants opened fire on his vehicle.

Marati is the highest ranking commander to be killed in Idlib since the start of these assassinations this month.

While no group has claimed responsibility for the assassinations, the rebel forces have blamed Syrian government spies for these attacks in Idlib.

Most recently, the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham claimed they found a Syrian Arab Army (SAA) sleeper cell in the northern Hama town of Morek; however, the government has yet to corroborate these claims.
