At least 2 people were killed, others wounded as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off today Friday inside Al-Kabir Mosque in Al Tal town,
Witnesses confirmed that Imam of Al-Kabi Mosque, Sheikh Suleiman Al-Afandi, was killed in the explosion as the IED was planted under the main platform he was standing in.
The wounded were immediately taken to a local hospital; the conditions of many are reported critical. This might increase the number of victims.
This is the second blast that hits Al-Tal in less than two weeks. In the 23rd of June, a booby trapped car exploded just outside Baidar Al-Sultani Mosque killing at least 13 people.
No one has yet claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.
Al-Tal, nearly 14 km to north of Damascus, is completely controlled by armed opposition factions, including Jabhet Al-Nusra, after the reconciliation held with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
