Footage released on Monday features Russian troops taking part in drills at Russia’s 201st military base in Tajikistan.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defence, truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launcher BM-21 Grad and self-propelled multiple rocket launcher system BM-27 Uragan as well as self-propelled howitzer 2S1 Gvozdika and self-propelled gun 2S3 Akatsiya were used at the exercises.
An MoD press release said that the artillery-type weapons carried out firing missions with direct and semi-direct fire against targets at distances of up to 10km (6.2 miles). Unmanned aerial vehicles provided objective control during the mission.
The 201st military base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia’s largest military facility outside of its borders. It is located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bohtar.
According to the agreement signed in October 2012, the base will remain in Tajikistan until 2042.
