BEIRUT, LEBANON (01:24 A.M.) – On Wednesday an asylee working for the Islamic State (ISIS) media wing Amaq News was arrested in Germany, after the federal courts investigative judge had issued a warrant for the suspect on May 25. The arrest was announced yesterday by the federal prosecutors bureau, which also stated, that the 23 years old man from Syria entered Germany in September 2015 as a refugee.
In Germany the man named ‘Mohammed G.’ acted as a contact person for Amaq news agency to factual or potential perpetrators of terroristic attacks in the name of ISIS. He served as conduit in 2016, when Amaq new agency demanded a personal confession, of a man, who later was arrested in Sweden, because of an arson attack against a Shiite community center on October 11.
Amaq was unwilling to publish an article claiming the attack for ISIS without confirmation. With the perpetrators confession, the story was published and in consequence ISIS officially claimed the attack in its al-Naba newspaper.
In addition he was also arrested for spreading ISIS propaganda in several chat groups. The arrest in Rietberg, North Rhine-Westphalia is just the latest in a row of terrorism connected investigations. Three weeks ago 5 asylees were arrested in Berlin and Essen, for links to Islamic extremist groups and planning a terror attack and next Tuesday 3 Syrians will face court in Hamburg due to their ISIS membership.
