BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:50 P.M.) – Just hours after the Shaheen Group left west Palmyra for east Aleppo, the Syrian Arab Army sent a large number of reinforcements from Latakia to this front in order to intensify their military operations against the Islamic State (ISIS).

According to a military source in Damascus, two separate convoys comprised of 500+ soldiers each made their way from coastal Latakia to west Palmyra today.

Both convoys were reportedly accompanied by several armored vehicles and Russian special forces, the military source added.

In the coming days, the Syrian Arab Army is expected to make another big push for the Hayyan and Al-Mahr gas fields, as they look to expel the remaining Islamic State terrorists from the area.
