BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:25 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) launched a massive assault near the Deir Ezzor Airport last week, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the Thardeh Mountains.

ISIS terrorists began the offensive in order to reestablish a presence at this strategic mountaintop, which is located directly west of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport.

While the battle was intense, the Syrian Arab Army ultimately beat back the encroaching terrorists, killing and wounding scores of Islamic State militants in the process.

Video footage of this battle was captured by the Syrian Ministry of Defense; it would be released this past weekend:

As shown above, the Syrian Arab Army was able to restore the areas attacked by the ISIS terrorists and reestablish security at the western wing of the airport.
