Huge blasts hit a key base for the Syrian Army in the southeastern countryside of Aleppo, eyewitnesses reported.
Flames were seen rising from a compound of military factories run by the Syrian Ministry of Defense in As-Safira city located nearly 20 km to the southeast of the battleground city of Aleppo.
The reasons behind the explosion remain unknown so far, but an informed source told Al-Masdar News it was most probably due to a fatal error made by some technicians that set fire to an ammunition depot.
Following the incident, strict security measures were immediately taken. Mobile phones coverage and internet connections have been blocked, all roads leading to the site cut off.
No reports for the casualties or damages have yet been disclosed.
