On Wednesday, the famed White Helmets discovered a mass grave containing around 150 deceased rebel fighters in the southern countryside of Idlib near the town of Khan Sheikhun.
The dead militants are supposedly members of Jaish al-Nasr, a rebel faction linked to the Free Syrian Army (FSA), that have been executed by Jund al-Aqsa, a rival jihadist group.
Opposition activists posted pictures of the gruesome sight online – viewer discretion is advised:
Meanwhile, rumours suggest that Jund al-Aqsa has agreed to a deal that would have its fighters evacuated from Idlib province and join the Islamic State; initially reports even indicate that 15 commanders have somehow arrived in southern Raqqa.
Nevertheless, Al-Masdar News was unable to verify this with its military sources.
Other reports suggest that Jund al-Aqsa is still besieged by hostile rebel factions around the towns of Khan Sheikhun and Morek.
