El Ejército Árabe Sirio y Hezbolá han aprovechado el lunes. Atacaron a las defensas del Estado Islámico (ISIL) cerca de la estratégica estación de bombeo T-2, mientras sus fuerzas reanudan las operaciones para llegar a Abu Kamal.

Las unidades del 5º Cuerpo del Ejército sirio -junto con Hezbolá, Hashd al-Shaabi (Unidades de Movilización Popular iraquí) y Liwaa Fatemiyoun (paramilitares iraníes y afganos) – atacaron las posiciones del Estado Islámico en la zona de Zaliyiat, en el suroeste de Deir Ezor, Sobre las defensas enemigas.

No mucho después de lanzar su asalto, las Fuerzas Armadas Sirias y sus aliados anunciaron la liberación del área de Zaliyiat después de que los militantes del Estado Islámico abandonaran sus posiciones.

Con el área de Zaliyiat bajo su control, el Ejército Árabe Sirio y sus aliados han continuado su empuje hacia el cruce Abu Kamal, que es considerado la línea de salvamento del Estado islámico entre Deir Ezor y la Gobernación de al-Anbar de Irak.
