DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:05 P.M.) – The Syrian forces continue to grab more territories from rebel groups in northeast Daraa as part of a wider offensive to liberate all insurgent-held areas in Daraa and Quneitra provinces.

According to latest updates, the government forces have so far liberated up to 400 km2 in Lajat region stretching from northeast Daraa to northwest Sweida; taking over scores of villages and towns formerly held by al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Currently, the government troops are squeezing militants in Busra al-Harir town in bid to capture the strategic rebel bastion and eventually split the rebel-held areas in east Daraa countrywide.

Earlier today, rebels claimed they have shot down a Syrian fighter jet while conducting airstrikes on Busra al-Harir. However, a military sources denied the claim but confirmed the jet was hit by an anti-aircraft cannon.

Meanwhile, the militant-controlled Daraa al-Balad district in the provincial capital was heavily pounded with Golan missiles fired by the SAA’s 4th Armored Division.
