DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (4:00 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s 137th Airborne Brigade of the 17th Reserve Division managed to capture a large chunk of territory in the southwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor on Wednesday, forcing the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) to retreat towards the Tayyim Valley.

According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Armed Forces killed more than 50 Islamic State fighters over the last 24 hours, while also capturing the imperative hilltop of Tal Sannouf near the 137th Brigade’s headquarters.

The Syrian Armed Forces are still advancing at the moment, capturing most of the checkpoints around the strategic hilltop of Tal Kroum near the 137th Brigade’s headquarters in southwest Deir Ezzor.

Meanwhile, inside the provincial capital, the Syrian Armed Forces are attempting to repel the Islamic State’s offensive at the Industrial District.

So far, the Islamic State forces have been unable to breach the 137th Brigade’s first-line of defense at the Industrial District; however, the terrorists continue to send wave-after-wave of militants towards the government’s positions.
