General Maher Al-Assad of the 4 Mechanized Division has been promoted to the rank of “Major General” after serving 7 years and 2 months as the Brigadier General for the 42nd Brigade.

According to sources from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), General Maher Al-Assad’s was actually promoted to the rank of major general last year; however, this change became official last week.

Several anti-government publications attempted to depict General Assad’s departure from the 42nd Brigade as an internal conflict between the Assad brothers; however, there is currently no turmoil between them.

How exactly were you able to divine that there is ‘no turmoil’ between the Assad bros, Leith?

And by ‘currently’ do you mean to imply that there recently or habitually has been ill-feeling?

If not, why bring the subject up at all?

Zahreddine and Hassan should be in charge of joint staff and all the rest sent to early retirement.
