BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:30 P.M.) – The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA), led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, announced on Saturday, the restructuring of the main military operations room.
In a statement published by its spokesperson, Ahmed Al-Mismari, the leadership indicated that after the successes of the Libyan Army in the battle to “liberate the capital, Tripoli, the Turkish intervention came alongside the Al-Wefaq government to turn the war against terrorism in Libya into an international war.”
The statement continued: “In order to protect the civilian population and to avoid casualties, we left the cities and we will fight the enemy in the desert and open lands face to face.”
The statement continued that the management of military operations will be better within the framework of a tight strategic plan, “that includes harnessing the capabilities of the Libyan armed forces, civil authorities and the people with its multiple tribes and elites.”
The General Command declared, “The reconfiguration of the main military operations room for the Libyan Army and the assignment of competent officers who are able to interact with the battle and its variables and the confidence of the people in them.”
The move by the LNA comes at a time when their forces are facing a well-armed enemy, who is heavily backed by the Turkish military.
