The Lebanese General Security Forces recently uncovered a large terrorist network in the ‘Akkar District of Tripoli on Friday, leading to several arrests.
According to As-Safir, the terrorist network belonged to the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) leader, ‘Umar Al-Satem, who currently lives in the Al-Raqqa Governorate of Syria.
The terrorist network utilized a school in the ‘Akkar District to train militants and recruit teenagers in the Tripoli Governorate so that they become effective fighters for ISIS.
Citing unnamed security sources, the report added that five members of the cell were arrested – no names were released.
The report also said General Security separately arrested a Syrian man who admitted to plotting a suicide attack under the direction of Satem.
