BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:25 P.M.) – The Lebanese security forces busted an Al-Qaeda cell in the Ba’albak region of the Beqa’a Governorate, Friday, the General Directorate of Lebanon’s State Security reported.
The General Directorate issued a statement on Friday that provided information on the apprehended terrorists and their roles in Al-Qaeda.
“As a result of close monitoring of suspicious activities by members of the Syrian nationality, the General Security Directorate arrested three Syrians in the process of purchasing weapons with silencers and narcotic drugs, and preparing for armed robberies against well-known cashiers and wealthy persons.
“The cell comprises of Syrian nationals (Walid G.), (Ahmad G.), (Zakaria G.) and (Ziad R.), who took part in battles against the Lebanese army in Arsal back in 2014,” Lebanon’s National News Agency claimed.
Lebanon has been cracking down on these terrorist cells lately, as they beef up their security across the country.
