BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:45 P.M.) – The Lebanese security forces arrested a wanted Islamic State (ISIS) militant in the city of ‘Arsal this week, ending the long hunt for this suspected terrorist.
According to a Lebanese Army communique, the security forces arrested a Syrian member of the Islamic State that was reportedly responsible for kidnapping two Lebanese soldiers in August 2014.
The communique identified the wanted Syrian ISIS member as Tajeddine R. – no further details were revealed about the militant.
The Lebanese security forces have been recently targeting terrorist sleeper cells in eastern Lebanon, as they look to cleanse the country of the remaining Islamic State presence.
