The Lebanese Kata’eb Party celebrated the 11th anniversary of the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) departure from Lebanon after their 16 year presence following the 1989 Taif Agreement.
Kataeb Party leader, Sami Gemayel, stressed that Lebanon belongs to the Lebanese people and not the Arab world or Syria.
“We do not want Daesh nor Bashar nor Syria nor Arabs nor Iran, but rather Lebanon, first and foremost.”
He later added, “this country deserves all sacrifices, so enough of making us choose between bad and worse alternatives!”
Gemayel concluded by blaming the Syrian Army for Lebanon’s present state.
This ceremony was held at the Al-Qala’a Monastery in Beit Mary, in the presence of several political figures and dignitaries.
The Free Liberal Party head, Dory Chamoun, would also attack the Syrian Army, blaming them for much of Lebanon’s destruction.
