BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The Lebanese government has maintained contact with former Prime Minister Saad Hariri, despite his resignation over the weekend.
Using his political contacts like former premier Fouad Sinoria, the Lebanese government has maintained channels of communication with Hariri in an effort to get him to return to Lebanon.
Sinoria met with Lebanese President Michel ‘Aoun at his palace in Ba’abda, Monday – the two veteran politicians discussed several topics including the Hariri situation.
“Our priority is to have Hariri return to Lebanon, and then we will think of solutions for the accumulating problems, with more unity,” Siniora stated, as reported by the National News Agency of Lebanon.
Hariri resigned from his post as Lebanese Prime Minister on Sunday, ending his short tenure in the government once again.
