The Lebanese Army arrested a total of 34 terrorists in the North and Beqa’a governorates on Thursday night, resulting in the dismantlement of several sleeper cells near the Syrian border-crossing.
According to a source from the Ministry of Defense, the Lebanese Army arrested 3 Syrian members of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) at the village of Wadi Hamid in the ‘Arsal area on Thursday night.
The Lebanese Army would follow up these arrests by cracking down on an Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) sleeper cell inside the ‘Akkar District; this raid resulted in the apprehension of 31 suspected terrorists.
Recently, the Lebanese Army has stepped up their operations near the Syrian border in order to obstruct terrorists from crossing into Lebanon.
