At least 89 stolen artifacts returned to Syria: director

BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – At least 89 Syrian artifacts that were stolen from the country have been returned, the Director of Museums and Antiquities said on Tuesday.

The stolen artifacts were being sold on the black market in several countries around Europe before they were confiscated by European authorities, the director added.

Many artifacts have been plundered from Syria and sold overseas during this war, often making it very difficult to recover these stolen historical treasures that date back many centuries.
