On the eve of Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia, an “urgent and very confidential” document sent by Saudi Arabia’s royal court has been published on social networks about the cost of hosting US president in Riyadh.
According to a leaked letter, the kingdom has allocated 257 million rials (nearly $68 million) to the preparations for hosting US President Trump.
The office of Saudi King, Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, has ordered the country’s finance ministry to prepare the grounds for welcoming Trump and to approve the proposed budget of royal formalities worth 112,795,063 Saudi riyals for holding the Arab-American summit.
In the letter, it was also asked that the ministry should immediately agree and pay 20 million riyals proposed by Riyadh governor formalities committee, 99,210,000 riyals demanded by the special welfare board of the visit and 25 million rials demanded by international strategic alliances office.
A copy of the secret letter and King Salman’s orders has also been sent to the cabinet, the defense ministry, and the ministry of urban and village affairs, council for welfare administration and the head of royal formalities.
Donald Trump will leave Washington on May 19 to Saudi Arabia. This is his first foreign trip since he took the office in the White House as US president.
Informed sources suggest that US president’s main objective is to sign contracts on arms sales to Saudi Arabia worth tens of billions and to coordinate on confronting ISIS and Iran under the title of “fight against radical Islam”
