(TASS) In a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reminded him that Washington has failed to separate opposition from terrorists in Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said after the phone call initiated by Kerry.
“It was marked that the Russian Aerospace Forces and Syrian Air Forces have been making no flights in that area for already four weeks, but Washington has failed to separate the units of ‘moderate’ opposition orientated at it from terrorist groups, although it undertook commitment to do it within seven days in case the flights stop,” the ministry said. The sides “agreed to continue bilateral expert consultations to look for ways to normalization,” it added.
As the situation in Syria was discussed, Lavrov stressed that the armed groups in eastern Aleppo and a so-called ‘Local Council’ in that part of the city refuse to cooperate in settling the situation.
“It was stated that Russia’s Aerospace Force and the Syrian Air Force have made no flights in that area for the past four weeks, while Washington has not separated ‘moderate’ opposition groups that enjoy its backing from terrorist factions, although it had pledged to do so within seven days following the suspension of Russian air raids,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said. “It was agreed to go ahead with bilateral consultations to find ways of achieving normalization.”.
